Most evenings during the winter months I find myself sitting in front of the fireplace while watching Netflix and knitting. However, I can’t knit on just anything while watching a show. The pattern needs to be simple enough to not require constant attention, but interesting enough to keep me entertained and engaged.

The Georgie Hat is a perfect project for this situation. The entire patten is created using only knits and purls and the finished hat can be worn inside out for an entirely different look. It is also a perfect hat for beginners.

Knit in DK weight yarn, the hat begins with a basic ribbed section followed by an intuitive and easy to read broken rib pattern. It is my second pattern in the Heartland Hat Collection, a collection inspired by the CBC series by the same name.

Sizes available Child/Teen, Adult Small, Adult Medium, and Adult Large to fit a head circumference of 19, 20.5, 22, and 23.5 inches.

Gauge notes - Stitch gauge is most important in this pattern as the directions for height are listed by inches instead of rows and can be easily modified to fit your row gauge.

Techniques used include knit, purl, and decrease stitches.
