Gerbera Garden Blanket
Beautiful happy gerberas to brighten your home!
This pattern is for a blanket of gerberas that can be made smaller or larger by simply changing the number of flowers. There are 9 different coloured gerberas: white, light yellow, yellow, orange, red, light pink, pink, dark pink and mauve.
You will need to know:
- finger wrap/sliding loop (if you prefer you could make a magic circle/magic ring )
- chain stitch
- slip stitch
- single crochet (US)/ double crochet (UK) The rounds are joined with an invisible join which is explained in the pattern.
The flowers are joined together as you make the petals - they are not sewn together. The joining method is different but it is easy to learn.
Step by step instructions and photos. Includes approximate yarn quantities and gerbera colour chart to follow.
Terminology: Written in US and UK terms.
Yarn: DK/8ply (I used 100% acrylic)
The pattern is adaptable to different type/weight yarns - my suggestion is to use the same size crochet hook as the recommended knitting needle size. So, for example, if you choose yarn with a knitting needle size of 5mm/US 8 use a crochet hook of 5mm/US H 8. Keep in mind that lighter yarn will make smaller size flowers and heavier yarn will make larger flowers and the amount of yarn needed will be different.
Hook: 4.00mm/US G/6
Size: Gerbera size - 10cm/4in. Blanket size is 1.17m/46in x 1.14m/45in.
