Gerda Wegener
Gerda (Wegener) is beautiful, soft, and light as a cloud. The sweater features a slightly square neckline and a delicate stripe pattern combined with a lovely lace pattern. The sweater is knitted in Handdyed Alpaca Cloud, and is worked from the top down with set-in sleeves.
First, the back is knitted. Short rows are worked initially to shape the shoulders, and once the upper back is completed, stitches are picked up along each shoulder, and the two front pieces are knitted separately while shaping the neckline. When the neckline is shaped, the front pieces are joined and knitted until the same length as the back piece. Now the front and back are joined, and the body is knitted in the round and finished with a ribbed hem. Then stitches are picked up around the armholes, and the sleeves are knitted with gradual decreases on the underside, ending with a ribbed cuff. Throughout the entire process, a beautiful striped lace pattern is knitted. Finally, a rolled edge is knitted at the neckline.
