This pattern reminds me of the ‘dots and boxes’ game I played as a kid. The Dutch name translates roughly to Get a Room.
The pattern is written for knitting in the magic loop method but you can use any method you find preferable.

Small - 7.4 inches / 18.8 cm
Medium - 8.5 inches / 21.5 cm
Large - 9.7 inches / 24.6 cm
