One size fits most average adults for this easy-to-knit medium-weight balaclava. The samples are shown in handspun yarn—chain-plied for a good color effect—but a dk-weight or light worsted storebought yarn should work fine.

This balaclava is knit both in the round and flat.

Materials:

  • 250 yards of DK yarn, handspun or store-bought
  • 1 16” circular needle in US5-7/3.75-4.5mm, or size needed for gauge.
  • Tapestry needle
  • crochet hook, F/3.75mm or size suited to yarn
  • 4 removable stitch markers

Gauge:
Gauge is 19 sts and 27rows over 4”/10cm of k2 p2 ribbing, worked in the round and blocked. Please be sure to check your gauge.

Measurements:
One size fits most for this stretchy balaclava! It measures about 14.5”/37cm tall and 8”/20cm across, measured flat with no tension or stretch. The ribbing pattern stretches to fit most
average adults.
