With the spooky season upon us, those Ghosts will surely be a specter-cular addition to your home. More fun than frightening, this adorable apparition will help you scare up some true Halloween spirit in no time! These ghosts are a beginner-friendly pattern, meaning they’re haunt-astic for newbies. Don’t forget to have a boo-tiful time bringing your spooky new bud to life!
SIZING
Small ghost: 1.5” x 2” / 3 x 4 cm
Medium ghost: 2.5” x 4”/ 6 x 10 cm
Big ghost: 4” x 6” / 10 x 15 cm
NEEDLES
Small ghost: US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Medium ghost: US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Big ghost: US 9 / 5.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
YARN
The sample was made using fingering yarn: Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/4 in white. You can use 2 strands of fingering yarn for the medium ghost and 4 strands of fingering yarn or 2 strands of DK for the big ghost.
YARDAGE
Small ghost in fingering yarn:
MC: 22 yds / 20 m - 12” (30 cm) black yarn for the eyes
Medium ghost in DK yarn:
MC: 53 yds / 48 m - 12” (30 cm) black yarn for the eyes
Big ghost in worsted yarn:
MC: 120 yds / 110 m - 24” (60 cm) black yarn for the eyes
GAUGE
9 sts per inch for small ghost, 8 sts per inch for medium, 7 sts per inch for big.
SIZE
Small ghost: 2” x 2.5” / 5 x 6.4 cm
Medium ghost: 2.5” x 3”/ 6.4 x 7.6 cm
Big ghost: 3” x 4.5” / 7.6 x 11.5 cm
CONSTRUCTION
Worked flat from the side, you’ll start with the body, knit the bottom, and then sew the pieces together. For a frightfully fabulous finishing touch, embroider the eyes and, if you like, add an optional ruffle at the base for a wavy, whimsical look.
