If you don’t like rolled-up sausage stockinette scarves, you could knit this in garter stitch (knit each stitch, each row) or ribbing (knit 2 stitches, purl 2 stitches all the way across.”

Ingredients:

• 1 or 2 skeins worsted-weight yarn (280 yards). I used two skeins of Rio De La Plata worsted hand-dyed wool in “Faded Brick Red” for an extra-long scarf.
• Plus: 1 skein yarn for the pom-poms (140 yards)
• Needles:** Size 10 straight needles; one large-eye yarn needle for attaching pom-poms to scarf
• Wine Selection: Cuvee Roucaillat
• Accessories:** Extra-large pom-pom maker (or you can buy premade pom-poms).
