My kid was/is a huge toddler. I made him some basic wooly mittens just so that he would have something that fit.

MATERIALS
• Approximately 90 yards (82 m) worsted weight wool (sample was made from
Rowan Purewool Superwash Worsted)
• 4.0mm (US 6) needles (or size needed for gauge) long enough for magic loop
• 2 stitch markers
• Row counter (optional for many, but not me)
• Stitch holder or waste yarn
• Yarn needle for grafting
• Optional: additional yarn for making a string for the mittens and a crochet hook
suitable to that yarn

SKILLS
• These are worked cuff down with magic loop, but these could easily be adapted
to your favorite method of working in the round. I worked these one at a time,
but go for it if you want to do two at a time.
• I have no fear of grafting. If you do, consider 3 needle bind off for the top of the
mitten as I can’t recommend sewing together bound off stitches.
• All increases are kfb.

GAUGE AND SIZING
• A stretchy knit, these are 6” (15 cm) in length off the hand. Gauge is
approximately 5 stitches/inch and 8 rows/inch. A tight gauge is good.
