Giga Shrug
As the sun blazes forth, summoning us to bask in its glory, the call of summer is upon us. And with this siren’s song comes a yearning for crochet wearables, weaved with ease and graced with beauty. Enter the shrug - a must-have addition to your crochet wardrobe, resplendent in its charm and versatility!
This pattern is made to measure.
This means I will not provide standard sizing and you will need to measure certain parts of your body and chain accordingly as described in the pattern itself. This is a NO-SEW pattern made in one go.
What to know before you get started
We use a bigger hook to create a loser stitch. This isn’t mandatory. If you do not like loose stitches, feel free to downsize on the hook size!
Measure your elbow to elbow measurement with your arms spread open. This is going to be the length you have to chain. (THIS IS THE WIDTH OF THE FULL SHRUG)
Measure from your shoulder down to where you want the shrug to end. (THIS IS THE LENGTH OF THE FULL SHRUG)
But we will make it in one go, this means we’re gonna make the front and back in one go, and leave a chain space open in the middle for our neck to go through. Meaning we will end up making twice this length in one go!
Measure from shoulder to shoulder minus 1 or 2” (THIS IS THE NECKHOLE OF THE SHRUG)
I chained 103 for mine, did 20 rows in total before creating the neckhole, then again 20 rows after. My neckhole was 31 stitches wide in my case so I had 35 stitches left on each side of the neckhole.
