Gilda's Cuffs
A NIGHT AT THE OPERA: GILDA’S CUFFS
This pattern is named for the heroine of Guiseppe Verdi’s popular opera Rigoletto: Gilda; it is the first pattern in this new design series.
Adapted from an 1848 cuff pattern, if you follow my instructions you will have a pair of cute cuffs that will warm your wrists and provide a little colour and lace for your jacket or sweater sleeves. They are so quick to make, and use so little yarn, that you can make a pair for yourself and a matching pair for a little gift for a friend in just an evening or two!
Gilda’s Cuffs are a quick and easy project that you can adapt for any size using any yarn, as you make them in a multiple of 4 chain stitches that fits the wrist of the person who will wear them! Mine are 8 inches diameter; the red pair is made with sock yarn/3mm hook and will provide some warmth as well as adding a welcome touch of colour; the off-white pair is made with size 10 crochet thread/1.5mm hook and will add the look of vintage lace to any long sleeved dress, blouse, or sweater.
