GILDED DRAGONFLY SHAWL is worked from the top down. Design inspired by both my fascination with Amber jewelry and my affection for the second book in the Outlander series entitled, Dragonfly in Amber, by Diana Gabaldon.

Amber, a sticky then fossilized tree resin, can be collected in a variety of colors - the honey, golden brown being my most favorite shade. In ancient forests, this aromatic plant resin, not to be confused with tree sap, oozed down trees collecting leaves, insects, and debris in its path.

Model is knit using three colors - one to represent the dragonfly, one to represent the aged tree, and one to represent the Amber.
