Gilded Lace Shawl
Lace shawls come in many shapes and sizes. I love working with lace weight yarn; however, once the weather begins to cool its just not quite enough warmth for me. For me this shawl is the antitheisis of lace knitting. DK weight yarn, straight geometric shapes…and well I do love bold colors, so that part is noting new for me. Taking a traditional square shawl shape and adding in additional “squished squares” (as my middle school math teacher referred to rhombuses) brings a lovely lace detail. This lace shawl is making me wish for wintery weather so I can show it off!
The lace motif throughout this shawl is rows of various different sizes of diamonds. Varying in size and number per round, ending with a straight edge to keep with the strong geometric theme in this piece.
Erratta: On “chart B” there should be a second column of plain knit stitches on the left hand side of the bordered repeat.
