Gillian's Wrap
Gillian’s Wrap is a tribute to Jennifer Dassau’s knitted Sundry. After knitting several wraps from that terrific pattern, I was inspired to create a crocheted version.
Gillian’s Wrap is crocheted on the bias to form a triangle wrap with wonderful drape and texture. It works well in a variety of yarn weights and amounts. In designing the pattern, Julie Blagojevich tested it in the Findley lace weight yarn and I tested it in the Chesapeake aran weight yarn. Both versions turned out beautifully.
As with the other Crochet Works patterns, this pattern comes with “recipe” ideas. If you would like to use a heavier or lighter weight of yarn, make the wrap shorter or longer, or use a specific amount of yarn, suggestions for making those adjustments are included. For those of you who want to slip a 1-page print copy into your project bag, there is a handy “Print & Go” page with all of the instructions and none of the photos.
After blocking, the lace-weight wrap as written (using 1594 yards of yarn) is 108 in. (274 cm) long and 50 in. (127 cm) at the wide edge.
After blocking, the aran-weight wrap as written (using 636 yards of yarn) is 69 in. (175 cm) long and 31 in. (79 cm) at the wide edge.
The following stitches were used: chain, double crochet, single crochet.
The pattern pdf includes 11 of Julie’s lovely photos, including several views as it develops and images of the completed wrap.
Gillian’s Wrap is named for my youngest daughter, Gillian, who is a lovely, creative, smart, and funny girl, and a talented crafter in her own right.
