A treasured Christmas tradition in many countries around the world is the Christmas bake, and perhaps the most famous Christmas cookie is the gingerbread one. With hints of both sweet and spicy it is a treat beloved by young and old, and meeting in the kitchen for baking and decorating is such a lovely way to spend time with friends or family, or just cozying up in blissful solitude. These socks were inspired by the sweetness, fun and whimsy of the gingerbread people!

One size. Finished and blocked socks measure:
Length of the foot: approx. 24cm/9.4”.
Circumference: approx. 21 cm/8,3”.
Size can be adjusted by using smaller or larger sized needles or by adding or removing some rows.

The pattern specifies the yarns I have used, but any sock yarn of the same weight (100gr = 425 meters/465 yards or 50 g = 210 meters/230 yards) will work fine.

Approximate weight needed (if sticking to gauge):
MC: 30-40 g
CC 1: 30-40 g
CC 2: 15-20 g

Pattern is written for magic loop, but double pointed needles will work if you prefer that, just make sure to make necessary adjustments.

Pattern is available in English & Swedish.

Techniques used: Stranded Colourwork, Shortrows, Forethought Heel, Kitchener Stitch.

The pattern has links to my accompanying videos on Youtube which explain some of the technical aspects of the work: How to work with magic loop; How to sew the kitchener stitch.
