Gingham Bucket Hat
Gingham Crochet Bucket Hat! Tried and tested, this is a super fun project that works up quickly and is the perfect item for festivals, picnics, gifts and more. Easy to follow, step-by-step guide, detailed photo tutorials and Top Tips throughout.
Written using UK crochet terms, worked in the round, using the tapestry crochet technique.
Skill Level: I would say this pattern is suitable for confident beginners/intermediate level with some experience in the tapestry crochet method and reading colour charts. But it’s also a great pattern for practising this technique if you’re new to it!
Sizing: One size fits most, approx 52cm circumference
Supplies needed:
- Cotton yarn in aran weight - Approx 50g of a pale colour, 25g of a dark colour and 25g of white/cream. I recommend having a spare skein of the pale colour.
- 4.5mm crochet hook
- tapestry needle and scissors For the hats pictured, I have used a mixture of Yarn and Colors Epic, Paintbox Cotton Aran and Drops Paris. This is some of the yarn used in the pattern: https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/paintbox-yarns-cotton-... and https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/yarn-and-colors-epic?u... (affiliate links).

Tester reviews:
“Beginner + (lots of tapestry crochet YouTube videos if you need some help/haven’t done it before). Once you get the hang of it, it’s super fun and opens up a new world of crochet projects… Overall great pattern to learn a new crochet technique. And works up so quickly!” - @whatmimimakes91
“I really enjoyed making it… found the grid so useful and the pattern was v easy to follow… My yarn usage was the same as described… Found the pics/top tips very useful” - @jossholfknits
“I found the pattern itself easy to understand. I have not worked with a color chart very often and I can confidently say that you made it very clear to understand. I think the treble crochet is the perfect stitch…The pattern was lovely and the color contrast is BEAUTIFUL. I found using such a dark and light contrast really added to the hat.” - @casualhookcreations
“The pattern is really good. I think my yarn size is smaller so I added a few rows to fit me… really satisfied with the result.” - @craftsby_alora
