From the scalloped edge cuff to the twining vine around the toe, these socks combine gingham and leaf patterned colorwork to create the perfect footwear for cottagecore and nature lovers.

The socks are knitted top down from cuff to toe, and feature a scalloped edge cuff, stranded colorwork in the round, and a short row heel. The pattern is suitable for intermediate level knitters.

Materials

Needles:

  • 2.5 mm (US 1.5) circular needles (for all sizes)
  • 2 mm (US 0) circular needles (for sizes Small and Large only)

Note: This pattern was designed to be knitted in the round on 80 cm circular needles using the magic loop technique and instructions are written accordingly, but feel free to adjust for a different length cord or DPNs if that is your preference.

Yarn:

This pattern was designed and knitted with Schachenmayr Catania in Natur (White), Gelbgrün (Light Green), and Khaki (Dark Green), and requires the following approximate quantities:

  • White: 48 g / 120 m / 132 yds (53 g / 133 m / 146 yds, 60 g / 150 m / 164 yds)
  • Light Green: 16 g / 40 m / 44 yds (18 g / 45 m / 50 yds, 21 g / 53 m / 58 yds)
  • Dark Green: 23 g / 58 m / 64 yds (26 g / 65 m / 71 yds, 30 g / 75 m / 82 yds)

The socks can also be made with any other sport weight or lighter DK weight yarn that can achieve the correct gauge. Using a natural fiber yarn is recommended—the scalloped edge requires blocking to prevent it from rolling over and obscuring the design, and it may not hold its shape well if made from synthetic fibers.
