Here’s a knitting pattern for a cute washable pot holder, worked in classic black and white gingham!

Mosaic knitting easily produces the cheerful design and creates a thick fabric – holding the yarn double and having two sides to the pot holder quickly creates a SUPER THICK pot holder!

Color selection of the yarns is key: in addition to white or off-white, select two colors of the same tone but different values. In the featured sample, Dishie yarns in colorways Black and Silver are combined with Swan.

Other Dishie colorway combinations I have used to create this simulated gingham are:

  • Blue, Silver, and Swan
  • Mulberry, Lilac Mist, and Swan
  • Jalapeno, Honeydew, and Swan

Worked in the round and seamless, you needle a long (32”) circular needle in size #8 (to work as “Magic Loop”) or two 24” circular needles (setup shown in pattern).

This design is not only cute, but it’s highly functional, too - I didn’t hesitate to pickup my steaming hot espresso pot with it (while wearing my World Champion Cleveland Cavs t-shirt - look closely!)

If you fall in love with gingham like I have….you may also be interested in the other designs in the Gingham Collection: a placemat, a napkin ring, a FREE cup cozy a basket/bowl, and a mug rug coaster.
