Ginko Biloba Cable Blanket
Description
This blanket design uses post-stitches to make the branches and leaves of a Grecian Laurel tree, and a Ginko Biloba tree. The Laurel leaf pattern is bordered by two cable motifs. In general, a Laurel leaves are used to make Laurel Wreaths, which originated in ancient Greece and were a symbol of accomplishment, and distinction. They were worn by graduates, awardees, and victors alike. The Ginko Biloba leaf motif is based on the beautiful fan-like leaves of the ancient Ginko Biloba tree, which originated in China and has relatives that can be traced back to the Jurassic period. The combination of cables and two different leaf patterns makes a unique and exquisite blanket.
The level of expertise required to make the blanket is about intermediate, you should have experience with increases and decreases, sc, dc, post-stitches, and cable stitches. Make sure to check the stitch descriptions for extended stitch information (particularly for the sc stitch).
The pattern includes a written pattern for the blanket and a stitch diagram for each of the 3 motifs. Although, the pattern is written in 3 separate motifs, the blanket is worked as one piece, and the instructions for making the full blanket based on the motifs is included in the pattern. Video tutorials for the two cable stitches are also included (links below).
