NOTES

Ginnywood was designed in honor of our beloved cat Ginny, who passed away on Dec 4th, 2020. She was a best friend, a sister, and a teacher. She is still teaching us how love can live in your heart forever.

We think about her and miss her everyday. My husband and I went on many long walks together after she passed. On the old railroad bed hiking trail there’s a corridor of young aspen trees and birches. We feel very close to Ginny there. So, we dubbed it Ginnywood, and every time we walk through we say “Hello” to our girl and she walks with us in our hearts.

This sweater is worked seamlessly from the bottom up. Each hem is worked separately and joined to work in the round to the underarm. At underarm, the front and back are split and worked flat. Shoulders are seamed with a three needle bind off on the inside of the garment. Garter stitch edging is added to finish the neckline. Sleeves are picked up from the arm holes and worked in the round. Cuffs are finished with garter stitch and tiny picots.

GAUGE
20 sts x 32 rows = 4” (10cm) in broken rib on larger needles
Measured flat after blocking.

21 sts x 29 rows = 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch on larger needles
Measured in the round after blocking. Many people knit tighter in smaller circumferences. To get an accurate measurement, I suggest you cast on the recommended number of stitches for your upper arm for this gauge swatch and work the swatch in the round.
