This hat is a very special hat. My incredible daughter-in-law was just diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of stomach cancer. Their four children and I decided she should have very COOL hats to keep her head warm while she undergoes chemo treatment. As their Nana and owner of a yarn shop, I promised I would design a very special hat just for her. They said it would be OK to share the hat on Ravelry in case there are other mommies out there going through similar health issues.

Three colors of yarn are required to knit the hat, but only about half of each skein will be required for the hat. While traditional stranded knitting is only knit with 2 colors per row, this pattern uses 3 colors on most rows. Bobbins just didn’t seem to work because of the frequency of the color changes. So, I twisted, or wrapped if you will, my yarn every 3 stitches. This makes for a very thick and warm hat which works for the purpose of this hat. I did not pay to have this pattern tested, so if you find an error, please let me know and I will fix and re-post. I promise, you won’t hurt my feelings! LOL!
