About the pattern
To me, word ‘gipsy’ means free spirit and refusal to be put into a frame, hence the name for the pattern with its irregular striping and multitude of colors.
‘Gipsy’ is an asymmetric triangular shawl knit from a corner with increases along the top side. The shawl features two mosaic print panels against garter stitch background, and a section of mini-nupp stripes on stockinette background.

Size
Pattern is written for a relatively standard shawl size (~75x170 cm / 30x67”).
Exact final size will differ, depending on your gauge, yarn choice, how aggressively you block it, and whether you choose to skip/add extra stripes after the mosaic panel.

Yarn:
~Sport-weight (300-350m/330-380yds per 100g/3.5oz) yarn.
You can also use fingering / DK weight, but the final size and required yardage may vary.
Content depends purely on the season you want to wear the shawl in. Just make sure to combine yarns that behave roughly similarly in blocking. Print looks best in yarns that bloom after blocking to ‘fill in’ any gaps.
Original yarn: Holst Garn Coast held double

The pattern is written up for 4 colors, but you can also knit with more to use up left-overs, mini-skeins, etc.
For my sample I used 2 balls of C1 (mustard), 2 balls of C2 (sage), 1 ball of C3 (light grey) and 1 ball of C4 (dark green) of the original yarn (remember, I held it double).

If you will be using a sport-weight yarn, you will need ~175m/190yds of C1 and C2 each and ~80m/90yds of C3 and C4 each.

Gauge: 20-22 sts * 38-46 rows per 10 cm/4” in garter stitch after blocking. You don’t have to match it, but your final size of the shawl and required yardage may vary. Make sure you get a nice drape without large holes.

Needles: ~4 mm / US 6, or size to get a drapey, yet not too holey fabric with selected yarn. I suggest using ~80cm/32” circulars for the whole project.

Notions: (gauge) ruler, stitch markers (optional), row counter (optional), tapestry needle, scissors, rust-free pins, blocking mats and wires (optional)
