This pattern uses two strands of worsted weight yarn held together and a 5.5mm hook.
You can use 1 strand for a smaller finished product and I would suggest using a 3.25 or 3.5mm hook if doing so. This will change the size of safety eyes needed. You could just stitch on black pupils.
Any worsted weight yarn will do
