This is based on the pattern by Bobbi Padgett found here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sock-giraffe however I simplified it to be easier to knit for beginning knitters of my school knitting class.

Materials:
Needles
Weight 4 (worsted) Size 4 (both DPNs and magic loop or two circulars)
Weight 3 Size 3 (both DPNs and magic loop or two circulars)
Large eye needle
Black worsted weight yarn for mouth, eyes and nose
Yarn

Weight 3:
Main body: 40 grams
White/contrast: 8 grams
Brown: 17 grams

Weight 4:
Main body: 53 grams
White/contrast: 12 grams
Brown: 17 grams

Techniques:
Icord
Knitting in the round
Short rows
Turkish cast on

Finished size: Weight 3: 13 ½ inches Weight 4: 15 inches
