Girl on Fire
She’s just a Girl, and she’s on Fire“
Worked seamlessly from the Top-Down and almost entirely in the round, the set-in sleeves of the pullover are created simultaneously with the upper bodice in a technique originally described by Barbara Walker (a photo tutorial is included in the pattern). A stunning cable-n-lace panel adds beauty and drama to the square neckline and fitted silhouette.
Shaping is accomplished via princess darts to allow for maximum flexibility for customizing the shaping. The garment is intended to be worn with anywhere from -1” to +2” of ease at the bust, so choose a size that is closest to your bust measurement. The pattern also includes a “Some Thoughts About Fit” section for more information on knitting to suit your fit preferences as well a tutorial on horizontal bust darts (in a separate file) for those wishing to add them.
The cable-n-lace panel is charted only (in a separate pdf from the pattern instructions), so be comfortable with reading charts before taking on this project. It is an intermediate knit.
Finished bust sizes 29(32, 35, 38, 41, 44, 47, 50)“ require
4(4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) skeins Astral Bath Spectra DK (250 yds/skein), or
2(2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4) skeins Wollmeise DK (468 yds/skein) or approximately
780(870, 960, 1075, 1185, 1300, 1425, 1550) yards of DK weight/light worsted weight yarn.
Three separate files are included in the purchase of the pattern: Pattern directions, a chart pdf, and a horizontal bust dart tutorial.
This is an intermediate pattern To work it, it’s best if you are familiar with lacework, various m1 increases (like m1R, m1L), picking up and knitting sts from a selvage edge, as well as short rows.
