These flirty and feminine ankle socks are the perfect thing for every girly-girl! Knitted from the frilly picot hem cuff down, through a fun eyelet mock cable rib, a surprisingly simple but elegant lace stitch, and ending with a slip rib toe, the constant changes in textures keeps the knitting engaging. The short ankle length is not only stylish and sophisticated, it is also very practical, because you can get two pair of socks from one 400 yard skein of sock yarn!

The pattern is written for three sizes: Small measures approximately 7” (18cm) in diameter and 8” (20 cm) in length and fits US Children’s Shoe Sizes 1-3. Medium measures approximately 8” (20 cm) in diameter and 9” (23cm) in length and fits US Women’s Sizes 5-7. And Large measures approximately 9” (23cm) in diameter and 10” (25cm) in length and fits US Women’s Sizes 8-10. Instructions are given for adjusting the final length if desired for more customization.

The pattern calls for any fingering or sock weight yarn, any color, though a merino/nylon blend is recommended. Instructions are included for reinforcing the toes and heels as you knit. I highly recommend reinforcing as you knit, it is one of the best ways to extend the life of your hand knit socks, and it is super easy to do. For this option, include approximately 20 yards of reinforcing yarn or thread in a complimentary color.

If you love the style and want a matching pair for the special guy in your life (or a gal who wants a more unisex look) keep an eye out for my companion pattern, Manly Ankle Socks!
