Girl's Best Friend Cardigan
Didn’t get that jewelry you were hoping for this Christmas? Here’s a cheaper way to drape yourself in diamonds year-round. This lightweight, slightly draping cardigan features a diamond motif trim (both charted and written) on the front, bottom and sleeves. The below-the-hip length, open front, and easy fit make it a great layer over jeans and a t-shirt or a simple dress. A small welt in the back gives feminine waist shaping.
The directions are for elbow-length sleeves--but you could easily increase the sleeve length (gray cardigan pictured) to 3/4 by increasing the number of rows between sleeve decreases.
You will need two size US 6 circular needles, one 24” or longer for the body, and a 16” one for the sleeves.
This cardigan requires good, thorough blocking to look its best. I completely wet mine, pinned it down very well, and weighted the front band down with the heaviest books I own, and it has stayed nice and flat ever since.
