Girl's Tiered Summer Skirt
DESCRIPTION – Knitted tiered skirt with a drawstring waist. Unlined.
SKILL LEVEL – need to know knit, purl, front leg/back leg increase, decrease, cast on, bind off.
SIZE – Written for a girls size 9. This skirt is very stretchy though and can easily fit many sizes. Slip, shorts or tutu recommended. It can also be lengthened or shortened by adding or subtracting pattern repeats.
TOOLS and MATERIALS
-size 9 circular needles (long enough to accommodate 240 stitches) -size 9 straight needles (optional for casting on)
-cord for drawstring
-2 colors ww yarn with excellent* drape.
I used about 235 grams total of Temptation by Kollage Yarns (65% bamboo, 27% cotton, 8% nylon). 3 skeins Sea Pink and 2 skeins Cabana Brown.
It has been brought to my attention that this yarn has been discontinued. I would suggest a yarn with a high percentage of bamboo. They have excellent drape.
GAUGE About 4 stitches per inch after hanging and about 1.5 inches per pattern repeat after hanging. Gauge is not critical. A swatch is recommended if you wish to alter the size. If you wish to enlarge or reduce the waist, add or subtract stitches at time of cast-on in multiples of 3.
