Give me Strength
“You gain strength, courage and confidence, by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
(Eleanor Roosevelt)
PATTERN INFO:
Garter stitch with a bit of easy, added detail for extra effect, GIVE ME STRENGTH is an easy, versatile project, perfect for almost any yarn you might have in your home. The design features integrated I-Cord edges, which give it a really nice finish, & once started & a couple of rows are worked, it can easily be picked up & put down without having to think about where you’re up to. Great therapy when tough circumstances are being faced & lived through. I designed it when Covid 19 hit NZ & we experienced our 1st lockdown.
MODIFICATION OPTIONS are included in the pattern, for other options, size wise. And a basic formula is included for calculating stitch counts.
The original sample was knit with 12x20gm, fingering weight minis, double stranded with a solid fingering weight yarn. You might choose to substitute these with a DK weight yarn, single stranded, for a similar result size wise. Thicker yarn and large needles can of course also be used if you wish to use up all the yarn in your home on knitting blankets! Remember that you always also use more than 2 strands.
Have fun working out how YOU will interpret this design & make it your own!
