My collection of designs called GivingKnits were created especially for gifts and donations. They are warm, unisex, a generous one size and easy to knit. Using two strands of worsted weight yarn held together, the mittens are dense and sturdy and the neck warmer is fluffy and soft. The one ply yarns stick together and make a warm fabric.
For the adventurous beginner, there are two techniques that are very useful to learn. The Icelandic bind off is a stretchy match to the long tail cast on. The Left Hand Cast On, with the bumps on the outside, makes a neat edge.
Regarding the generous one size, for donations or extreme weather, it would be possible for a thinner glove to fit inside the mitten and the neck warmer could be one of a few layers so they both provide a lot of extra warmth.
The mittens size: 9” palm and 10” in length.
Needles: #9 dpns, #5 or 6 dpns for the last few rounds.
The neck warmer: 22” circumference and 9” in height.
Needles: #11 and #13 dpns or circular.
Smaller sizes may be achieved with smaller needles.
