Sometimes it’s hard to know what to make with variegated yarns. This pattern groups the stitches together in small groups and separates them from each other with a coordinating framework. It ends up looking like a beautiful glass tiled backdrop. The variegated colors make up the tiles and the separating color makes up the grout. I just love how it looks!

I’m calling this a bias shawl because although it is worked from the side point outward and only increases on one side like an asymmetric shawl, it has the same shape as a triangle shawl.

I used only 1 skein of Baby Bee Sweet Delight yarn in the color “Coral Cutie”. For the framework and border, I used about 2/3 skein of the color “Teal Too!”. My finished shawl is 52” across the top and 25” tall. You can make yours larger if you have more yarn. You can also use a #4 or #5 weight yarn and corresponding hook to make whatever size shawl you want.

• about 375 yards of #3 weight yarn in a variegated color and about 250 yards in a solid color.
