Glass Tiles Shawl
Sometimes it’s hard to know what to make with variegated yarns. They can pool together in an unattractive way or end up looking like camouflage. This pattern groups the stitches together in small groups and separates them from each other with a coordinating framework. It ends up looking like a beautiful glass tiled backdrop. The variegated colors make up the tiles and the separating color makes up the grout. I just love how it looks!
I used only 1 skein of Baby Bee Sweet Delight yarn in the color “Pattycake”. For the framework and border, I used about 2/3 skein of the color “Toy Elephant”. My finished shawl is 55” across the top and 24” tall. You can make yours larger if you have more yarn. You can also use a #4 or #5 weight yarn and corresponding hook to make whatever size shawl you want.
Skill: Beginner
Supplies:
- 2 stitch markers
- 4.25mm hook
- about 375 yards of #3 weight yarn in a variegated color and about 260 yards in a solid color.
