Glitter Drop Socks
’The Honeysuckle appeared to wink at them from the window frame as they pushed it open to breath in the scent of fresh rain. There was a mist of damp over the grass and shrubs and it all sparkled, their very own secret garden as the flowers came into bloom. For a moment they sunk into the mystical world the rain had left behind, then they gently untangled their knitting where it had become a puddle in their lap and wiggled their socked feet deeper into the blanket over their knees’
I love how the changing seasons bring special treasures to enjoy. Summer rain brings a fresh feeling, everything is brighter, and invigorated after. This was the inspiration behind this sock pattern. The socks are worked top down, the pattern includes instructions for a heel-flap and gusset, and a modified wedge toe.
The stitch pattern is worked on the front of the sock and is written and charted. Slipped stitches are worked together with reverse stockinette to form a textured pattern down the front of the socks, like drops of rain on glass, elongating as they run down, glittering as they catch the light. The rest of the sock is worked in a 3 x1 rib.
