This design draws inspiration from the quartz mined in the quarry that sits on a hillside across the valley from our homestead. The twinkle of the mohair and silk held with a base yarn reminds me of the glint of crystal, while the snug fit is warm and cosy.

This pattern coordinates with the Glittering Quartz Mitts.

Yarn requirements:
Approximately 100 (120, 140) yards each of a fingering weight yarn held together with a mohair + silk lace weight.

One skein each of the fingering weight and lace weight is enough to knit both the hat and the matching mitts.

If you prefer to knit with a single type of yarn, choose a DK weight wool blend with some mohair, silk, and/or tercel for a shiny, sparkly fabric.

Suggested yarns, 1 skein of each:
Ocean By the Sea Twirl, 100% Corriedale wool yarn, 437 yards per 100 grams, and Ocean by the Sea Mohair Silk, 72% mohair, 28% silk, 459 yards per 50 grams.

Tools
Locking stitch marker, darning needle, scissors, gauge tool.

Techniques
German Twisted cast-on.
