Global Economy Hat
I saw a hat like this at an import store and I thought “That is so cute- I could make that!” So, instead of buying the solid colored, acrylic hat, I knit a multi colored hat out of leftover wool from different projects. This pattern is worked from the crown down, enabling you to make it exactly the size that you want. You can also knit the hat as long as you want. I wanted my hat to have a sort of flapper/Cloche feel, so I made it long enough to cover my ears. I used a size 4 needle for the hat, and a size 3 needle for the ribbings.
I am a very loose knitter, and I wanted a fairly tightly knit hat for winter wear. Use the needle that gives you the feeling that you want from your finished fabric. Leave the flower off, or try a different type of flower if you want. I used a different color of yarn for the hat body, the ribbing, and the flower trim. The hat that this pattern was based on was all the same solid color. Customize the colors to make it your own!
