I made this cardigan for an autumn vacation in London. I like to pack lightly so I wanted to bring only one sweater that would work as an outdoor garment and a comfortable indoor garment. I used a warm, heavier-weight, wool and made the sweater a little on the longer side for warmth, but I also made an open neckline, so I could unbutton and open-up too. To top it off, I made a coordinating cowl that I could take on and off as needed, and shaped the cowl to completely cover the open neckline.
I left our Kensington apartment in the cold London mornings with my cardigan buttoned up and the coordinating cowl keeping me warm. In the afternoon sun, I removed the cowl and sometimes unbuttoned the cardigan too. It worked out perfectly.
It is worked from the bottom up. The only seams are at the shoulder. The shape is A-line for a flattering fit.
