Gnome Made Gnome Samplers- Double Knitting
Learn double knitting on cute little gnomes!
If you make these squares out of 100% cotton yarn, they can be used as dish-drying mats, hot pan coasters, potholders, or placemats. Just change your yarn weight and needles to get different finished sizes.
This pattern includes charts for 10 different gnomes. Six of the squares are designed for regular double knitting- but I would only use the chart for the four gnomes. If you double knit the word squares, the back will have the mirror images of the words. Instead, you should try out the four TWO SIDED DOUBLE KNITTING squares! Each of those squares has a gnome on the front and words on the back- if you know how to double knit, doing a two sided project really isn’t that difficult!
Two sided squares include:
Cloche Gnome/Welcome to my Kitchen
Rolling Pin Gnome/Welcome to my Kitchen
Cake Gnome/Everything Here is Gnome Made
Spoon Gnome/Everything Here is Gnome Made
If you crochet, there are crochet versions of these charts in my ravelry store.
Don’t know how to double knit? Visit my youtube page to see an overview/tutorial! I also have a video for how to read a two sided chart and manage the unused color over long floats.
The finished square was 10.5x10in. I was able to easily made two squares from my yarn (1 skein in each color) and probably would have been able to get a third.
If you have questions, I have started a private TessElation Patterns facebook page. Come share progress pictures or other stitches that you have found that work for charts! I would love to see your work!
