Gnomes and Wobblers
ANNOUNCEMENT: I’ve found that many of my customers are accomplished knitters but unsure of their felting skills. I’ve recently started a newsletter where I answer customer’s questions and provide tips on felting, as well as announce new patterns and provide substantial newsletter-only discounts. …………………………………………………………………………………………
With their hats on, they look like everyday gnomes. Take off their hats and they are bald little men. Push them down and they wobble back up- see the last photo (low quality gif, but gives you the idea!). They can be pushed over, incidentally, with their hats on (there’s a physics lesson in there somewhere!).
Construction: The gnomes are knit in the round from the bottom up with a double strand of worsted weight wool yarn. Before they are closed at the top, an internal weight is installed, and they are stuffed with fiberfill. They are then felted in a washing machine. Eyes are embroidered post-felting. The hat is knit and felted separately.
