With their hats on, they look like everyday gnomes. Take off their hats and they are bald little men. Push them down and they wobble back up- see the last photo (low quality gif, but gives you the idea!). They can be pushed over, incidentally, with their hats on (there’s a physics lesson in there somewhere!).

Construction: The gnomes are knit in the round from the bottom up with a double strand of worsted weight wool yarn. Before they are closed at the top, an internal weight is installed, and they are stuffed with fiberfill. They are then felted in a washing machine. Eyes are embroidered post-felting. The hat is knit and felted separately.

Body: 1 Skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted (60 yds); Colors Used in Photos: Fjord Heather, Bamboo Heather, Cadet

Face: 1 Skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted (25 yds); Color Used in Photos: Oyster Heather

Hat: 1 Skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted (35 yds); Colors Used in Photos: Baltic Heather with Golden Heather Stripes, Golden Heather, Noble Heather

Beard:1 Skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted (5 yds); Colors Used in Photos: Pumpkin, Seminola, Orange

NOTIONS: Scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers, fiberfill, black embroidery thread or yarn (for eyes), 1.5 inch diameter steel washers, weighing a total of 4 oz.
