Go Faster Stripes
Everyone that’s knit this shawl so far - myself and all my testers - have played yardage chicken, trying to eke out just one more stripe before the yarn runs out, and as knitters we all know that the only way to beat the chicken is to knit faster!
This shawl was originally knit with one of Holst Garn’s sample packs of 5 mini skeins of Coast (3 ply/light fingering), each just 10g. Subsequently it has been knit with various 4 ply yarns, either specifically purchased mini skeins, or left overs.
So whether you choose to go shopping, or dive into your stash, this shawl will work for you. All you need are 5 roughly equal amounts of yarn, and a needle size that will give you a fabric that you love, preferably one that drapes nicely.
Details of samples
-
5 x 10g Holst Garn Coast - 3.5mm needles - 6 sts, 8 rows per inch - 64”/163cm wide x 12”/30cm deep
-
5 x 20g Dibadu Funnies Simply Mini - 3.75mm needles - 5 sts, 7 rows per inch - 80”/203cm wide x 12”/30cm deep
You can make yours any size you like by adjusting the amount of yarn you use.
I’d love it if you’d come to my group to show off your lovely shawl, or chat about it while you’re knitting. You’d be very welcome!
