This cowl is the companion piece to the Go USA Hat. Wear them together to show your patriotic spirit!

If you make both the Go USA hat and cowl using three colors of Imperial Yarn Erin, you will be able to get one hat and one cowl from one skein of each color.

This cowl features an i-cord beginning. Once the i-cord is complete, you pick up and knit stitches (view the tutorial video) and join in the round for the remainder of the cowl. An i-cord bind off creates a matching edge to the i-cord beginning.

The pattern is written for a 46” circumference cowl; however, the pattern can easily be shortened or lengthened by simply starting with a shorter or longer i-cord.

Materials Needed:

  • 3 skeins Imperial Yarn Erin (225 yards ea) - one each of 3 colors
  • US 7/4.5mm circular needle - 24-32” long
  • US 7/4.5mm dpn
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

This pattern can be made with any worsted weight yarn; however, if using red and white, please check for color fastness by knitting a swatch with both the red and white and wetting thoroughly. Allow to dry and check to see if the red has bled into the white.
