Godwin’s Gloves
The year is 1801 and 4 year old Mary Godwin Shelley is walking through a London cemetery with her father. They stop in front of the same stone every time they visit, and little Mary traces the letters of her own name on the stone of her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft.
This hand-warmer design is inspired by the past and brought into the present. Historic and modern, these gloves are for the beginner knitter who wants to create something a little more special.
This pattern could be made with one ball of any worsted weight yarn. I used Vanna’s Choice in grey marble. These fingerless gloves are knit in the round on dpns or circular needles, and increases and dropped stitches create the pattern details.
