Construction: The headband is worked back and forth. The cast on and cast off edges of the headband are sewn using mattress stitch. The strap for the central knot is knitted separately and sewn across the headband with mattress stitch.

Stitch pattern: Both charts and written instructions are provided for the stitch pattern. The photo tutorial for cables is included.

Level: Adventurous beginner / Intermediate

Finished size: width 10 cm (4”), circumference 48 cm (19”) after wet blocking, to fit head circumference 54-58 cm (21” – 23”). You may easily adjust the headband size, just work to the desired length to increase or decrease the circumference, or use thicker yarn to make the headband wider.

Yarn: La Bien Aimée Merino Sport (100% merino wool; 325m (355 yds)/100 g (3.5 oz)), color Caramel, 45g / 146m / 160 yds.

Recommended yarn: sport weight (fine weight #2) merino yarn. You may use thicker yarn (DK or even worsted weight) for wider headband, just use the needle size recommended for your selected yarn.

Needles: 3.5 mm (US size 4) knitting needles for working flat.

Notions: cable needle, tapestry needle.

Gauge: 36 sts and 42 rows to 10 cm 4” in main pattern after wet blocking.
