Molly Ringwald was pretty in pink, and you will be pretty in whatever color you choose to knit the Golly Molly Shawl in! It is crescent shaped, and knit from the top down. The first section is a 4 by 4 inch rib punctuated by zig zag work, while the second section is an all-over Japanese lace with an embossed appearance due to numerous through-the-back-loop stitches. The shawl is bordered with a fluted ruffle. Although I chose to knit this piece in fingering weight yarn, sport weight would also work. Keep in mind that this shawl is fairly sizable already in fingering weight at 6 ft. long and 31 inches at its center, deepest point. If you choose to work it in sport weight, your shawl will be larger than mine is. Also, I used all but 10 yards of 2 skeins (420 yards per skein) of Madelinetosoh Tosh Merino Light fingering weight yarn in the shade of Molly Ringwald (of course!). Because I weighed my skeins before I began knitting and know that I was actually working with 900 yards of yarn to begin with instead of the expected 840, you will need approximately 890 yards to complete this pattern in fingering weight.
