Dit is de januari SamenBreiSok voor de Ravelry groep Sokkenbreien.
De techniek van de maand is schaduw breien: door een slimme plaatsing van averechte steken wordt een simpel streepjes patroon voorzien van een extra patroon, alleen zichtbaar als je er zijdelings naar kijkt. Voor het beste resultaat is het belangrijk om effen garen in twee kleuren met veel contrast te gebruiken.

Voor de rood/witte sokken, 64 st, maat 40, is 2 x 50 gram sokkenwol net voldoende, er wordt minder wit gebruikt.

This is the Januari 2019 SamenBreiSok (KAL) for SokkenBreien, the Dutch Sock Knitters group on Ravelry.
Technique of the Month is Shadow Knitting aka Illusion Knitting.

A fairly simple sock, top down, Dutch Heel, Band Toe.
The Leg and foot pattern have a shadow (or illusion) knitting pattern in two contrasting colours, the cuff, heels and toes are in the main colour.

Very important: for the shadow effect to work well, pick colours that have high contrast.
Yarn requirements: to be safe, buy 100 gram Main Colour and 50 g Contrast. A medium pair weighs in at 70-80 gram.

NOTE, see heel turn picture:
Too early for a pattern update. However, to get the nice smooth edge of the heel turn square, use ssk, not k2tog.
Row 1 (RS): k21(23), ssk, turn
Row 2 (WS): sl1 purlwise, p10, p2tog, turn
Row 3 (RS): sl1 knitwise, k10, ssk, turn
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until all heel flap stitches have been worked. After last p2tog, turn and sl1, k11 to end of heel turn. 12 stitches remain of the 32 (36). Work a RS row, do not turn.
