Gone Fishing Cowl and Scarf
For accessibility this pattern is available in my etsy.com shop. A tribute to Fisherman’s Sweaters of the past, Gone Fishing incorporates eight separate panels, each with a different stitch pattern, all framed in garter stitch. The pattern is very detailed, with step-by-step instructions. If you can knit and purl, you can make Gone Fishing.
The pattern includes a cowl and a scarf, and the option of two gauges. Three files are included: a large print 24 point font Easy to Read file, and a paper-saver 12 point font file, and a screen reader version specially formatted to be read clearly by screen read and read aloud soft ware. For all three, the directions are fully written out. The Easy to Read and paper saver files do include loom knitter charts for the stitch patterns, but the pattern may be made without using the charts.
My patterns are low vision and screen reader accessible. The text is black, Arial and large print 24 point font. All of the directions are fully written out and no charts are relied on to complete the patterns. No italics are used.
Reference charts are over sized and created especially for loom knitting.
Loom: 36 pegs, 3/8 inch small gauge or ½ inch gauge
Yardage:
3/8 inch small gauge loom scarf: 660 yards worsted
3/8 inch small gauge loom cowl: 330 yards worsted
½ inch gauge loom scarf: 630 yards bulky/chunky
½ inch gauge loom cowl: 300 yards bulky/chunky
Sizes: Cowl – 9 x 32” 3/8 gauge, 10 x 34” ½ gauge
Scarf – 9 x 64” 3/8 gauge, 10 x 68” ½ gauge
Gauge: 3/8 small gauge = 8 spi and 16 rpi over 2 inches
½ = 6 spi and 12 rpi over 2 inches
Skill level: knit and purl and some fun techniques that build on knits and purls. The pattern is written step-by-step, and there are also large charts of each section to help you “see” the stitch patterns.
