Gone 'Round the Bend
Excerpt from Bargello Knits
Over the years that I have been working in bargello knitting, I have challenged myself to push the technique to its limits just to see how far it would go, particularly with the short color change yarns. Bending a strip of bargello knitting around a curve was nearly impossible until I realized that the strip would take on the shape of the fabric it is attached to. A curved shape done with short rows would force the bargello strip to go around the bend. A bolero was the perfect garment style to show off this discovery.
Pattern notes
The fronts and lower back are worked as a long strip in two sections, starting at the left side seam. After completing the upper back, the front and back are joined at the shoulder seams. The final seaming at the lower back finishes off the design.
