The finished Santa Gonk, when worked in double knit yarn and a 3.5mm hook, will measure approximately 25cm high and 14cm from arm to arm.This will of course vary with weights of yarn and hook/tension.
Gonks worked in Aran or chunky will also be much larger.

All weights are approximate and will vary depending on the brand of yarn you choose and your tension.
Any double knit yarn will work for this pattern, this is what I used.
• Marriner smooth touch cotton look double knit in red 60g (body and hat)
• Marriner smooth touch cotton look double knit in white 20g ( Beard)
• Vintage cotton beige 10g (nose and hands)
• A white soft and cuddly yarn for the fur trim on hat and arms 15g
• Toy stuffing tiny amount for the nose
• A white yarn to make a pom pom for the hat.
• Thin Cardboard, an old cereal box is perfect 9cm x 26cm rolled in to a
cylinder shape.

This pattern is easy to follow but requires basic crochet knowledge. It is written in US terms but easy to convert to UK.
