Overlay Mosaic Crochet

This is the first of my patterns to also include a Dutch translation, courtesy of the amazing Caroline Tigchelaar.

Gonks Holiday includes four different Gonk designs (Santa and Mrs Claus, Snowman and Reindeer) which you can arrange however you wish.
There is also a spacer pattern (a string of lights) which you can use to separate rows of Gonks.

Each design includes a clear marked chart, and full written instructions.

The pattern is written for two sizes: a 92 x 120 cm throw, and a 36 x 100 cm table runner / wall hanging, but it also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size if you wish.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna and all my subsequent overlay mosaic crochet patterns).

The pattern includes various suggestions for fringes.
It doesn’t include a border, but if you do prefer an envelope border, the border from HoHoHo would be great… or for a free option you could use the border included in my mosaic crochet tutorial, which can be downloaded from my website at https://www.rosinaplane.com/mosaiccrochet
I used this free border for my wall hanging.

Gonks Holiday uses a 32 + 5 stitch repeat, and will combine seamlessly with any of my 48-st repeat designs, such as Letitia’s Holiday and HoHoHo, if you start with a multiple of 96 + 5 sts (an even-number of 48-st repeats).

I also wanted to make it easy to add some Gonks to a project with an odd-number of 48-st repeats (such as my standard 149-st blanket), and came up with some simple bonus extension charts to add to each end of every row in Gonk’s Holiday, to enable you to do this (see photo of Caroline’s blanket for an example).
Please note, unlike the rest of the pattern, these extensions are chart only.
