Good Mood Shawl
I have made 4 of these pretty and versatile shawls and now have one more in progress.
As you can see I love them. They stay on the shoulders and do not require shawl pins, unless of course you want to use one.
They can be made as long, or as short as you want it. Using different yarn can drastically change the character of these shawls.
The shawls can be adjusted to fit a teenager or a smaller sized person by simply using smaller needles.
A simple row of eyelets adds a lacy look to the simple garterstitch pattern.
The pattern itself is very easy to remember. Once the markers are in place it is lovely calming knitting to the end.
This project is perfect for new knitters since it is easy to knit and looks wonderful.
No wonder I simply could not stop at knitting just one.
Gauge
With Kauni yarn
4.5 stitches and 9 rows per 1″
Materials
Yarn and needles:
The original “Good Mood” Shawl was knit to fit my 12 year old daughter.
I used fingering weight Penny, by PennyRose Yarns in “Rose” and “Chartreuse”. I used a skein of each color. Each skein has 115 grams and 400 yards.
Because it was a shawl for a teenager I made it smaller, by using the same pattern as for the other shawls, but smaller needles than usually – US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm).
Lacy “Good Mood” Shawl – Audrey, by Schaefer Yarn Company in colorway “Little Mermaid” 1 skein. 112 gr. 700 yards.
I used circular needles US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm).
For “Good Mood Shine” I used Shimmer Solid, by Crystal Palace Yarns, in black. I needed 5 balls. The yarn has 50 gm and 90 yards in each ball.
Because it is a bulky yarn I used US 10 (6.0 mm) needles.
For Large Good Mood Shawl I used my current favorite – Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn. While Ravelry database says it is sports weight, I think it is much closer to fingering than sport. I have used 2 250 gm balls. There are approximately 1000 yards in each ball. I have used US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles.
Stitch Markers:
14 knitting stitch markers. One of them distinctive, it will be placed to indicate the beginning of the increase row.
1 removable stitch marker – it is not necessary, but I found it was much easier to keep track of the increase rows when using it.
Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
