Good Morning, Pumpkin Cozy
Cute and cheery, wrap your morning mug of tea or coffee in this autumnal Good Morning, Pumpkin hand knitted cozy. It’s humble and small, quickly knit within an hour for experienced hands and an afternoon for beginners. In these quickly darkening mornings as September slips into October, this little cozy warms my hands and brings a little light to those solemn mornings.
Sizing
The pattern as written makes a size fitting to a typical coffee mug.
The pumpkin measures 5.5” across and 4” top to bottom. Each tendril tie measures 11” including the leaf.
Using larger yarn and needles will increase the size, though the tendril ties should be made in worsted weight yarn for easy tying. The tendril ties can be shortened or lengthened to fit your favorite mug.
Yarn
I recommend cotton or another washable yarn for this cozy. You will need two colors: a pumpkin body color and a second color for the stem and tendril ties.
Shown here is Knit Picks Dishie in Clementine for the pumpkin and Douglas Fir for the tendril ties and stem.
Yardage
This is a great stash-busting pattern for cotton and other washable yarn!
The yardage given is an estimate based on my test knits. You may find you use a little more or less depending on how you size your cozy and your gauge.
Needles
You will need size 8 straight or circular for the pumpkin.
You will need size 8 DPNs or circular (for magic loop) to knit the tendril ties.
